It’s always fantastic to get to add a new book into our Harry Potter Library. J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World: A Pop-Up Gallery of Curiosities is the newest addition to the set. (You can see my Harry Potter bookshelf tour here !)
While the book is arguably cute, and will work as a great backdrop for some of my Harry Potter Funko Pop stories (if you don’t already follow those stories, follow my Instagram account, Wandering Snape, to see them all), I really think it isn’t worth the money for the casual fan. The scenes are brilliantly designed and executed, but there isn’t much substance to the book, especially for the price.
For having worked in bookstores for so much of my life, I understand that pop-up books are inherently more expensive than regular books. However, even as intricate as a couple of these scenes are, A Pop-Up Gallery of Curiosities is just slim in stories. With only 4 scenes enacted, it’s not a book I would’ve added to my shelves if it weren’t for you, really. I did need to buy it to review, but I can say it’s not a book I’d suggest the casual fan own when there are other great ones out there to be had!
